Sharks Women’s Basketball Volunteers with Boys and Girls Club

NSU women’s basketball team took time out of their Saturday to spend time at Kidsfest, a Rick Case Automotive Group back-to-school drive in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club.

Coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry spoke to the audience about the importance of goals and had volunteers come up on stage to join the student-athletes and share their career aspirations. Additionally, senior student-athlete, Esabelle Levine, brought a handful of children to play “Simon says” with basketballs.

“Before the event I was most excited about being able to inspire the boys and girls club kids to reach their goals, but after meeting them and hearing their aspirations I definitely left feeling inspired by them instead!” boasted Levine. “Having the opportunity to share our advice and time with them is something that I’ll value forever.”

The Rick Case Drive for Supplies Kidsfest was the Grand Finale of a two-week supply drive, which concluded with the donation of over 1,000 backpacks and school supplies to the kids of the Boy and Girls Club of Broward County.
