NSU Men’s Soccer Selected as a 2018-19 College Team Academic Award
The Nova Southeastern men’s soccer program has been recognized as a 2018-19 College Team Academic Award recipient, announced by United Soccer Coaches.
The award, which dates back to 1996, honors men’s and women’s collegiate soccer programs that performed at a high level in the classroom during the academic year by maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
During 2018-19, the Sharks posted a combined GPA of 3.37, including the highest marks of any of NSU’s seven men’s teams in each of the fall and winter semesters.
“Another opportunity to brag on a great group of student-athletes,” said head coach Matt Watts. “I’m incredibly proud! The boys smashed it out of the park in the 2018-19 season both on and off the pitch. It’s brilliant to see such success in our program, and I know these guys are going to go on to do HUGE things!”
The Sharks were one of eight men’s teams from the Sunshine State Conference to be acknowledged, boasting the third-highest GPA of the select group. In all, a total of 347 men’s programs across all divisions were named to the award list.
