Enjoy a StoryFest presents Week of Wonder with Free Online Family Concerts!
This year, StoryFest presents Week of Wonder, seven days of online concerts featuring award-winning musicians and a Special Guest storytime. This spectacular, diverse line-up of artists includes a Grammy-winner, Latin-Grammy winners, and a four-time Grammy nominee!
Join us every day at 11a.m. from Sunday, April 18 to Saturday, April 24! In addition, you can view on-demand; the concerts and storytime can be viewed by anyone at any time for one month after they premiere.
To support our community, local families can register for a chance to win a set of books (selected by our librarians) and a Publix gift card. Winners will be drawn daily during Week of Wonder and prizes can be mailed to the winners’ homes or picked up in person at the library. Sunday, April 18, 11am: “Queen of Kindie Rock” Laurie Berkner’s Family Concert
StoryFest 2021 presents Week of Wonder kicks off with the “undisputed queen of kindie rock” Laurie Berkner, singer, songwriter, lyricist, and author with 3 popular children’s books and 12 bestselling, award-winning albums! Her exclusive concert for the NSU Alvin Sherman Library is a high-energy show that will have kids roaring like dinosaurs, shaking their tails and dancing to the monster boogie. Enjoy a special read-aloud of Laurie’s popular picture book, We Are the Dinosaurs, by the author herself! “Laurie Berkner does what Fred Rogers did: respect, validate and reassure young children.” – Los Angeles Times.
Monday, April 19, 11am: Latin Grammy-Winners 123 Andrés: Hello, Friends; Hola, Amigo Bilingual Concert
Andrés and Christina, better known as 123 Andrés, are known for bringing joyful sounds, passion for bilingualism and a high-energy love of music that gets kids singing and dancing in Spanish and English. Andrés and Christina share a sweet, never saccharine, bilingual story of friendship with a readaloud of their board book: Hello, Friend; Hola, Amigo. “A rockstar for little language learners.” –Billboard.
Tuesday, April 20, 11am: Aaron Nigel Smith Family Reggae Concert
Dance to the award-winning reggae rhythms of Portland-based musician Aaron Nigel Smith as he shares a high energy online concert inviting families to move, shake, and groove together. Aaron is an educator, songwriter and entertainer, working with kids all over the world, from Oregon and Washington to New York, Kenya, Jamaica and more with a simple mission to inspire and be inspired by children through music and movement. His upbeat reggae concerts for kids and families are energetic, fun, and joyful.
Wednesday, April 21, 11am: Special Storytime with Miss Penny
Join Miss Penny, star of KidVision Pre-K, and your librarians for a special Raise a Reader virtual storytime celebrating books and encouraging a lifelong love of reading!
Thursday, April 22, 11am: Alina Celeste + Mi Amigo Hamlet: Being Bilingual Rocks Family Concert
Family musicians Alina Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamlet share original and folk tunes in Spanish and English with music spanning genres including Flamenco, Rumba, Bluegrass, Reggae, Cuban Son, Bossa Nova and other Caribbean and Latin American Beats!
Friday, April 23, 11am: Grammy-nominee Justin Roberts’ Kindie Rock Concert
