Sharks Rowing Take Part in Fifth Annual Every Meter Matters Fundraiser
The NSU rowing team held their fifth annual “Every Meter Matters” fundraiser to support pediatric cancer research. The team set up rowing machines and challenged their friends, as well as other students, to short, high intensity pieces. The goal was to track the total number of meters completed and ask for donations to pediatric cancer research through curing kids cancer.
“It was a really successful event and it’s a great way to give back to the community a bit, said head coach Devin Fay. It also gives people a chance to learn how to row and do it for a good cause.”
“We love throwing this event to help those children in need find a cure but also how we love that our team gets to interact with the public more, added junior Kassie Moss. It shows all the dedication and hard work we put into our sport on the daily, educates the public on rowing and also gives them an opportunity to give back, while having fun racing their friends.”
“The whole event of coming together like that creates such a happy and exciting environment and it’s really nice to experience that bond with our teammates outside of practice,” concluded senior Samantha Burgess.
The Sharks raised just over $1,600 and are currently still accepting donations in hopes of reaching their $2,500 goal!
