NSU Pavement Improvement Closures on the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus Complete, June 8

On Sunday, May 10, 2020 NSU began work on improving paved lots and roadways on the Fort Lauderdale/Davie campus. The work will continue through Monday, June 8, 2020. There will be no parking or driving in these areas until they reopen.

The schedule for these improvements is as follows:

Phase 1 – Horvitz South Parking Lot: Complete

  • May 10 – 15, 2020
  • Lot reopens on May 18

Phase 2 – Mailman Hollywood Parking Lot: Complete

  • May 12 – 21, 2020
  • Lot reopens on May 25                     

Phase 3 – Horvitz North Parking Lot: Complete

  • May 18 – 23, 2020
  • Lot reopens on May 25

Phase 4 – Roadway:

  • May 14 – 27, 2020
  • Roads reopens on June 1
  • Please see attachment for a map of the roadways being worked on. There may be flagmen during this time to help manage traffic.

Mailman Segal Center for Human Development to host: Autism – Caring for the Caregiver during COVID-19, May 28

Please join us on online, Thursday, May 28 at 12 p.m. for a special presentation by Amrita Singh, Psy.D. and Sohani Char, Psy.D. licensed Psychologists at the Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic at NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development.

Explore the unique stressors that parents of children with autism spectrum disorder are experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will learn about the importance of self-care and how to identify barriers to self-care. This presentation will focus on discussing simple, effective ways parents can reduce their stress and maintain a positive outlook by implementing self-care strategies.

WHY:
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, there is a lot of uncertainty facing many members of our community. Many are stressed having to take on additional roles at home, including helping their children succeed with the transition to online instruction. In addition, many have already lost their jobs or been furloughed, which can compound the stress they are already feeling.

Unfortunately we are starting to see reports of the toll the self-isolation is having on members of our community. Realizing that people may need to hear from and talk with experts who can address such issues, NSU’s College of Psychology is organizing a series of Shark Chats specifically focused on the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The online Shark Chats are free, however, there is limited space in each. Interested parties are urged to register online at nova.edu/sharkchats
