College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association Recognizes NSU for Academics

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) has named the NSU’s men’s and women’s swimming teams to its Scholar All-America team for the spring 2019 semester.  A record 480 institutions were named on the list.

In addition, the CSCAA has named 1,221 swimmers and divers to the Scholar All-American Team for the 2018-19 season. The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

As a team, the women finished with a 3.54 GPA, the highest GPA posted by the squad in program history, and back-to-back semesters with a 3.50 or higher. The men posted a 3.10, which marks the fifth-consecutive semester above a 3.0 GPA for both teams under head coach Ben Hewitt‘s tutelage.

CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted: “Coach Hewitt has built the type of program we want every team to have – one that competes for championships, produces quality graduates.”

A total of 16 NSU swimmers earned the CSCAA Scholar All-America distinction. From the men’s team, five were named to the First Team while on the women’s side, seven earned First Team honors and four earned Honorable Mention honors.
