Hosted by the Circle of Friends, wine expert Shari Gherman, President of American Fine Wine Competition and THE Rose Competition, will present an in-depth lesson about wine.   Before the session, you’ll receive Shari’s wine picks, suggested food pairings, and recipes.   Purchase your wine in advance and join us with a glass!

The Alvin Sherman Library to Host Library 101: Fake News

Getting reliable news is always important, and is especially so in an election year.

In this 30 minute workshop on June 11 at 4:00 p.m., we will:

  • identify common traits of Fake News
  • discuss the real-world impact of Fake News
  • practice using the SIFT method for evaluating news

The Alvin Sherman Library to to Host Prenda la Luz – Light the Way: Learning through Storytelling, June 22

With bilingual stories in English and Spanish, children develop listening skills, sequencing and story recall, and creative and critical thinking skills with award-winning storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar in this interactive workshop. Discover how to figure out the parts of the story, Characters, Setting, Problem & Solution with a simple Story Elements Chant. Increase vocabulary, reading comprehension and essential 21st Century skills through the ancient art of storytelling.
