Students Recognized By College Board’s National Programs

Join us in congratulating the following 23 Upper School students who earned prestigious academic honors from College Board’s National Recognition Programs including the National Hispanic and African American recognition awards!

College Board grants this recognition to high-achieving African American and Hispanic students who scored in the top 10% on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 within program by state, earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP exams, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students can include this academic honor on college and scholarship applications to help them connect with colleges and universities across the nation and stand out in the admissions process.

USchool Students Use Creativity To Explore Engineering

PK3 and 1st grade students explored different types of engineering and were challenged to think of innovative ways to build to understand the world around them utilizing various materials. Together, they built houses, towers and communities. Students used blocks, tweezers, paint, cardboard tubes, plates, and Legos.

University School Speech and Debate Team Wins Top Awards

Our Speech and Debate team started off its 2022-23 season as the University of Kentucky Season Opener where they competed against 150 schools and earned top recognition, including a first place win!

  • Charlotte Reitman: placed 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking, earning her first bid to the Tournament of Champions
  • Ilan Arias & Maria Riofrio: placed 2nd in Public Forum Debate, earning their first bid to the Tournament of Champions
  • Lilian Anderson & Eva Egozi: placed 11th in Varsity Policy Debate
  • Logan Bratter & Samantha Hernandez: placed in the top 50 of Public Forum Debate

USchool Kindergarteners Take Learning Outside Classroom

To supplement their unit on living and non-living things, the kindergarten class visited our Lichtenfeld Family Butterfly Garden and Vivarium located in the Lower School to explore its beauty and the life present including plants, bugs, and insects. Once they returned to the classroom, students recorded their observations and labeled their discoveries.

USchool Robotics Team Advances as Finalist Champion

The NSU University School Robotics Team 4154X is the WORLD Division Tournament and Finalist CHAMPION! The team advanced to finalist standing and ranked 2nd among the best teams from around the globe, making VEX Robotics history as the first Florida team to win a high school division world championship and make it to the final round.

The Middle School Teams also took home awards at the Vex Robotics World Championship. Team 64883A earned the Energy Award for showing a high level of enthusiasm, passion, excitement, and energy and placed in the top 200 teams out of more than 785. Our Middle School Girls Team 63724A finished in the top 100 out of more than 507 teams in the individual skills competition.

USchool Students Win Big at Physics Olympiad

Join us in congratulating the following Middle School students on their success as top performers in the U.S. Physics Olympiad! As part of the event, students were challenged with answering a set of questions and solving problems in the fields of mechanics, optics, and electricity and magnetism. Participation in this nationwide event provides positive momentum for their further study of physics, math, and other sciences.

University School JA Fellows Team Wins Company of Year

Congratulations to the Ecossentials team of USchool student entrepreneurs on winning Company of the Year at the Junior Achievement of South Florida Spark Tank Finale! In addition to this recognition, the team brought home the following top awards:

Student officers Kayla Bigelman (CEO), Roni Saiegh(CSO), Noam Altman (CMO), Dylan Liberty (CFO), Elliot Perel (CSCO), and Jonathan Feinstein (COO) worked hard and performed exceptionally throughout the fellowship experience as they conceptualized, capitalized, and managed their very own small business.

Upper School Trade Fair Showcases Student Innovation

Entrepreneurship and innovation were on full display at our annual Upper School Economics Trade Fair! Juniors and seniors taking economics presented their products and their business ideas to faculty, parents, and students. The teams worked hard preparing for the big event and they were proud to showcase their business and economic knowledge to the USchool community.

USchool Wins Robotics Title, Advances to World Championship

NSU University School is proud to announce that both our Middle and Upper School Robotics teams have won the VEX Robotics State Championship and qualified to compete at Worlds! Upper School Team 4154X brought home the Excellence Award, making them the No. 1 team in Florida while the Middle School Team 63724A won the Design Award and is ranked 2nd in the state and 1st in South Florida.

We are so incredibly proud of their hard work and success! Join us in congratulating the teams and wishing them the best of luck at the VEX World Championship!

USchool Students Selected as 2022 National Merit Scholarship Finalists

NSU University School is proud to announce that all four seniors who were named Semifinalists in the prestigious and highly competitive National Merit Scholarship Program have advanced to Finalist standing!

Madison Draizin, Nicole Steinberg, Zachary Hardgrave, and Brian Zhi represent the top 1% of program entrants and will be considered for Merit Scholarship awards based on their academic abilities, skills, and accomplishments.
